Pitbull – Understanding The Breed

Pitbull is medium sized, and had short coat and smooth well defineduscle structure. The essential characteristics of the Pitbull are strength, confidence and zest for life. The breed is eager to please and brimming over with enthusiasm. Pitbulls make excellent family companions and have always been noted for their love of children.
Pitbulls are also known as Pit or APBT. Pitbulls were created by breeding Bulldogs and Terriers together to produce a dog that combined the gameness and agility of the Terrier with the strength of the Bulldog.
In early 20th century Pitbulls were used as catch dogs in America for semi-wild cattle and hogs to hunt, and drive livestock, and as family companions. Some have been selectively bred for their fighting powers. Pitbulls also constitute the majority of dogs used for illegal dog fighting.
The Pitbull varies in size. Males normally are about 18-21 inches (45-53 cm) in height and around 35-60 pounds (15-27 kg) in weight. Females are normally around 17-20 inches (43-50 cm) in height and 30-50 pounds (13-22 kg) in weight. Pitbulls have smooth thin single coat. Average life spam of Pitbulls is 8-15 years.
Many mis-understandings are found about pitbulls in society. Many people consider them aggressive to humans. But this is not true. In some cases this can be true all pitbulls are not aggressive to humans. It is are way to treat them that build their character. Shortcomings of owner makes a dog aggressive not his breed. In almost every breed of dogs their is some aggressive dogs, but on that condition we cannot blame the whole breed. Putbulls are human loving and loyal breed, which needs love of his owner and society.
